Celene Ibrahim

Author of: Women and Gender in the Qur’an, and others

Dr. Celene Ibrahim is a multidisciplinary scholar specializing in intellectual history, gender studies, comparative religion, and ethics. She is best known for her monograph Women and Gender in the Qur'an (Oxford University Press, 2020), winner of the Association of Middle East Women's Studies Book Award. She also authored Islam and Monotheism (Cambridge University Press, 2022) and edited One Nation, Indivisible (Wipf & Stock Publishers, 2019). Ibrahim is a faculty member in Religious Studies and Philosophy at Groton School. She was a Mellon Fellow and earned a doctorate at Brandeis University and was a Presidential Scholar and earned an M.Div. at Harvard University. She holds bachelor's degree with highest honors from Princeton University. She regularly contributes to scholarly and popular publications and has recently collaborated on several acclaimed educational films. Connect with her at CeleneIbrahim.org.
