In this seminar, we will address several fundamental issues: what is the role of Arab historians at a time of change in the political and intellectual landscapes? How can they maintain objectivity and scientific rigour when multiple narratives are being disseminated and when history is being heavily politicised? In that regard, we will talk about the importance of the original sources. We will also discuss how historical facts must be revisited and not misused to satisfy contemporary narratives. The role of research bodies and the Union of Arab historians is key to understanding history, protecting the Arab collective consciousness, and preventing history from being falsified or distorted.
